NJC First Friday

  • Del Frisco's Grille 1201 Demonbreun Street Nashville, TN, 37203 United States (map)

Interested in how to incorporate your desire to make a positive social impact into a for-profit enterprise?

The Junior Chamber's First Friday Lunch features an exclusive opportunity for both an intimate conversation with a local business leader as well as focused networking with a small group of young professionals.

Professor Mario Avila wrote the curriculum (literally). Mr. Avila is the founding Director of Vanderbilt University's Turner Family Center for Social Ventures, an interdisciplinary resource designed to promote the alleviation of poverty through a business lens and to develop responsible business practices in future leaders of our domestic and international communities. Prior to his tenure at Vanderbilt, Mr. Avila's passion for social justice led him to roles such as serving as the CEO of Emerge Financial Wellness and founding Contigo Financial, a socially responsible consumer lender headquartered in Nashville. Further,as a a Fellow of Vanderbilt’s Cal Turner Program for Moral Leadership in the Professions, he helped develop a hybrid housing-microfinance model to finance mortgage needs of people of Central America.

Mr. Avila's expertise is consistently sought out by various local not-for-profit boards and his presentation to the Nashville Junior Chamber is certain to be inspiring, engaging and not to be missed!
